JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:                      RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR 

 

DEPARTMENT:      RESIDENTIAL

 

REPORTS TO:         PROGRAM DIRECTOR

 

JOB SCOPE:

 

Provides supportive counseling and crisis intervention as required by individual residents and acts as a liaison between case managers and clients as necessary.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide counseling and crisis intervention to residents as needed.
  • Interact with clients on a regular and on-going basis.
  • Report crises, untoward incidents and emergencies immediately to the Program Director or designee.
  • Supervise medication dispensing.
  • Answer residence telephone and take messages when necessary.
  • Give out PNA.
  • Maintain accurate client case records in a timely manner.
  • Document significant events in the program log and crisis calls on the appropriate forms in a timely manner.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

  • Excellent counseling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to resident client base.
  • Well organized and in possession of good planning skills.
  • Able to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School Diploma required; college degree or 2 years college in a mental health field desired.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working as a counselor in a residential, mental health or related setting.

 

Salary:  $26,255.50

Hours:  35 Hour/week, Rotating Shifts as necessary
